”Turn the tide” is Peter Auret’s first solo release. Recorded live, end 2009 at Peter’s Sumo Sound studio, and features long time friends and bandmates : Roland Moses (piano) and James Sunney (bass), with Peter Auret (drums) as band leader, composer and producer.

Inspired by his love for Jazz and improvised music, Peter formed his trio in early 2009. Although he had performed with both James and Roland individually over the years, they had never really played as a group. Peter felt that James and Roland shared a unique sense of musicality and creativity and that would compliment each others playing in a trio situation.

With the help of of Pianist Roland Moses, Peter set out to write some material for the group. Composing new tunes and rearranging some of his older compositions to suit a trio format. Although all the pieces consisted of prescribed parts for the instrumentalists, the music depended largely on interpretation and improvisation.

“Turn the tide” was tracked over 4 days by Peter and Marius Oosthuizen at Peter’s Sumo Sound recording facility in Westdene, Johannesburg. The album was only mixed in late 2010 by Peter and Fried Wilsenach and mastered by Evert De Munnik at Ultima Mastering.

The CD features 8 original compositions by Peter and the Beatles classic “Here comes the Sun” by George Harrison, re-arranged by Roland Moses and Peter.
